Wirless access point booster

How do I use my Microsoft Broadband base station model MN-700 as an access point to boost my wireless signal from the terrible DSL 2wire wireless unit?

My husband decided to use DSL and now I can barely get a sinal at 18mbps in the next room. I was able to go all the way across the house when I was using cable with my Microsoft base station.
