Your statement makes no sense: "I can use the router as a hub all day but i just can't get a wireless connection."

What do you mean use it as a hub? Will the laptop connect to the router or not? Can the laptop see the router? Can the laptop see the PC? Can the PC see the router? Have you done setup on the router to connect to the modem AS WELL AS enable the wireless network? Does the Vonage/Motorola modem even allow routers connected to it?

Let me clear this up

First of all, sorry to lose you because we haven't even begun, okay anyway...I meant that i can connect to the router using an ethernet cable but i can't do it by wireless connection, the router acts like an active hub, get it...okay as far as the status of connectivity the pc can see the router and the router can see the pc and the vonage router but i can't get the lap top to make contact. I have used the same Wep settings and i configured the pc to allow a wireless setup as well as the router. The laptop is configured as well but no joy...

configured?

by Snuffy09 In reply to Wirless connection

did you turn off the wireless function?

Try checking the Wrouters configuration http://192.168.1.1

double check your SSID and password settings and make sure that the wireless function is enabled(this happeded to me once)

if none of that helps try updating the Firmware

Good luck

Still wirelost

by smithtkjm39 In reply to configured?

Hey Mike the status of my router is SSID name is verified, IP is set to dhcp, the router is seeing the voip and connected pc, the security is Wep and the encryption is matched with the pc, router and laptop. I am thinking about purchasing a Linksys router with the wps already built in... what do you think? This Netgear is garbage anyway....

I like linksys, they are stable and easy to configure.

I have a linksys Wi-Fi router now. I have WPA configured / wired network. It has been solid since i set it up about a year ago.
