WLan Connectivity Problems

By john.higgins2005 ·
On Wednesday, after patch Tuesday, May 12, 2010, we had a user?s laptop lose connectivity to email and mapped drives.

The wireless nic showed connected. It received a valid IP address from DHCP, but it receives 0 packets.

It can ping its own IP address and the loopback, but nothing else.

I can add a PCMCIA wireless nic and it works fine. The wired nic also works fine. Only the original onboard wireless has the problem.

We have since had three other laptops experience the same problem.

I have tried:

Unistalling and reistalling the device

Swapping wireless nics between two of them, one had a dell branded nic and the other was an Intel. They still experienced the problem after the new drivers were installed.

Bouncing the wireless access points.

Restoring to a point the week before the updates.

Imaging one of the laptops to out of box, but it still does not receive packets.

Any help or thoughts are appreciated.
