I am trying to open a file that appears to be a word 2000 .doc. However when I double click on it word opens up with a window that is labeled file conversion – filename.doc.
Within this window it says “choose the encoding for loading this file” and there are 2 radio buttons – 1)plain text 2)other encoding. Under the other coding are about 10 choices such as baltic, chinese, etc. The chinese looks like it might actually be readable if one put the document into chinese, but the rest looks more like gibberish. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks!
