We are having some problems with hyperlink errors. Here’s the scenario.
Novell 5.1 network with all updates and patches applied
Stand-alone installations of Office 2000 Preminum update SR-1 and current patches.
G drive mapped at login to the volume: //DEQ_MET_PRI/SHR:UNITSHR
H drive mapped at login to: //DEQ_MET_PRI/SHR:PERM
Document containing hyperlinks located in G:\SAB\NetworkDocs
Document is an HTML document (Index.htm) using Word 2000.
Trying to link to another HTML file on Drive H (H:\Techtips\TechTipsIndex.htm)
Have typed in the above for the file link and saved. When going back to edit, it reports that the file location is:
..\..\..\PERM\Techtips\TechTipsIndex.htm
Link operates OK in Word 2000 but when bringing the document up in a browser it report “Page cannot be displayed” and the URL is: G:\PERM\Techtips\TechTipsIndex.htm
It should be:
H:\Techtips\TechTipsIndex.htm
Is there a workaround to keep MSWORD 2000 from trying to use the UNC (../../) crap? Can’t find any relevant answers in Microsoft’s Knowledge Base. Hope someone out there can give me a hand. Thanks!
