In both WordPerfect and Word, the F8 key turns on marking such one uses for cut-and-paste. In WordPerfect, you could turn marking off, if you had accidently started marking in the wrong place, by hitting F8 again or mouse-clicking anywhere else. Neither of those things work in Word. Hitting the F8 key again just makes things worse. All I have figured out to do is to close and re-open the document. There has to be a better way.
