Word 2002 takes long time to open files
Application = Office XP Pro
Network Server = Windows server 2000
Problem
Recently on some workstations some files are taking a long time to open (up to 5mins)
On a dual boot machine the same file will open in Word 97 on a Windows 95 OS
With XP Pro word will appear to hang and if task manager is activated it will show as "word not responding"
Closing task manager without doing an "end task" and leaving the pc for up to 5 mins the file will in most cases open.
Saving the opened file under a different name does not solve the problem as the same issues arise when trying to open the renamed document.
A fresh install of Office XP plus service packs has not resolved the problem.
Using Office 2000 does not solve the problem.
Using office 97 will allow access to the files and when a new file is created by "cut and paste method and saved there seems to be no more issues.
Most files that are causing the problems, but not all, are based on the same template however when creating a new file by cut and paste to a fresh template seems to work OK which would indicate that the template is fine.
