Word 2013 Woes

Hi all

On most of my lengthy Word 2013 documents the ‘Welcome back – ‘pick up where you left off’ feature has been absent for a long time (even though the relevant box is checked in Options), while a few other documents continue to display this handy feature.
I have searched high & low on the internet for the cause and how to bring it back; but the only nearest topic everywhere is only how to disable this feature. I don’t need to re-enanble this feature because as mentioned it still appears in only some documents, which I work on everyday.
As an experiment I cut & pasted a few pages into a newly created document but still this navigation feature is absent.

I have also discovered that while any affected document is open I repeatedly uncheck and check the ‘Show Bookmarks’ again in ‘Word Options’, but this only temporarily re-enables this feature.

I am quite aware that Shift+F5 will perform the same trick, however old timers (such as myself) prefer to stick with the automated & visual option.
