WORD 97 HEADER toolbar problem.

By Kirk.Olmsted ·
In ANY document on one users machine if i go into word, and open a document, go to VIEW, HEADERS AND FOOTERS, i get NO TOOL BAR on the screen, when i go into View-toolbars- customize, the box for the header and footer toolbar is blank, and if i click on it, NOTHING happens!
tried re-installing word, also tried moving a normal.dot from a working machine, both had NO effect! I'm having the user run a virus scan tonight.... and other ideas out there???????

1.Have you tried going to View>Toolbars>Customize and hitting the reset button? This will allow you to reset the toolbars to their default values.

2.Have you confirmed that these documents work normally on other machines?

3.Switch to Page Layout View and then run this macro:
Sub Testmacro()
ActiveWindow.ActivePane.View.SeekView = WdSeekCurrentPageHeader
End Sub

What happens?

4. Try unchecking all toolbars and going to View>HeaderFooter.
