Word doc. font

When I open a new word document the default font is "Times New Roman (Western)". How do I change it so the default font is "Arial (Western)"??? No matter what I seem to try the next time I open a new word doc. the font is Times New Roman (Western).

Try this :

Open Microsoft Word
Click Format on the menu bar
Click Font
Select the Font and Sizes you would like.
Click the Default button.
This is now the default font for all new documents.

I have Windows ME with Microsoft Works Word Processor. When I open a new "wordpad document" (by right-clicking on blank desktop and choosing "new wordpad document") there is an option for format (and I use that for each new doc. to change the font), but I don't see anywhere to set "default" or "modify default". Also I see nowhere to "add to template". Any other suggestions??

It is possible there is an issue with your Normal.dot file that is causing this headache. I'd delete it and let Office create a new one. Then go through the steps of setting your default font.On the Format menu, click Font. Select the options you want to apply to the default font. Click Default.

Good luck...hope this helps!

Why are you accessing Word Pad?
The word Processor in Microsoft Works suite is the same as the Word Processor for Microsoft Office. Open up main Word Document - Start>Run
WinWord /A & try the previous info.

Word Pad is an option which doesn't have all the features of main Word, so you will not be able to change any settings within it.
