Word Doc. Formats to a certian printer

By rileylansing ·
The group of people Im working with are all on XP with Office 2k, One has a 4+ printer, one has a hp 5 , and 3 have HP 2200 dn printers. The problem is one of the users with a 2200 dn will create a word document and save it on a network drive. when another user with an older printer prints or views it all of the formatting is wrong. but the people with newer 2200 dn's are fine. Is their anyway get the users with older printers a way to see the files correctly without having to buy some new printers.

Not really, what you are seeing is that the page layout was saved with a 2200 margin layout. all your older printer users must do is edit the page layout (lessen the margin size) if need be when they do a print preview.

In all actuallity though, you may try this: Load the 2200 driver on one of those older systems and point it to it's 4+ or HP5 (Whichever that user is using) and try a print. Most HP Laserjets have the basic same formatting in code for their printer drivers and it should actually work just fine without having to resize any of the margins.

And if that doesn't work, you can just remove that driver and go back to the original driver.

Please post if that works fine for you.
