Word to pdf loses pictures and annotations

By scottw.hca ·
Tags: Off Topic
I am converting Word2003 and Word2010 docs to pdf. I am having a problem. Many pictures, shapes, textboxes and annotations are being lost during the conversions.
I have tried the save as pdf function in Word, print to PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9Pro, and Cutewriter Pdf.
The problems are not consistent with any of the three methods. The only thing consistent is that I do not get an accurate pdf.

Is anyone else having this problem?
Is there a cure?

Thanks,
Scott

Open Office Writer can save directly to PDF

by robo_dev In reply to Word to pdf loses picture ...

I've never tried it, but it works well, and it's free.

I've had good luck with OO Writer being able to read/save both DOC and DOCX files, so who knows, it might render PDFs perfectly.

Word, Review, Changes?

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Word to pdf loses picture ...

Is it possible you have some Review features turned on? Specifically I'm thinking of the textboxes and annotations you mentioned. Is it possible these markups haven't been 'Accepted' (Review, Changes, Accept in W10; not sure in previous versions)?

If that isn't it, try reposting this in the 'Q&A' forum. The 'Discussion' forum is for matters of general discussion, not specific problems in search of a solution. The 'Water Cooler' is for non-technical discussions. You can submit a question to 'Q&A' here:

http://www.techrepublic.com/forum/questions/post?tag=mantle_skin;content

There are TR members who specifically seek out problems in need of a solution. Although there is some overlap between the forums, you'll find more of those members in 'Q&A' than in 'Discussions' or 'Water Cooler'.

Be sure to use the voting buttons to provide your feedback. Voting a '+' does not necessarily mean that a given response contained the complete solution to your problem, but that it served to guide you toward it. This is intended to serve as an aid to those who may in the future have a problem similar to yours. If they have a ready source of reference available, perhaps won't need to repeat questions previously asked and answered. If a post did contain the solution to your problem, you can also close the question by marking the helpful post as "The Answer".

Actually I've found that Libre Office

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to Word to pdf loses picture ...

Is very good for making PDF Files. Not to mention that it's Free and works much better than M$ Office sort of sells it to me.

http://www.libreoffice.org/download/

I've been using the Finial Version of 3.4.0 on a 64 Bit Version of 7 without a problem.

If you want a Paid For program to do this I find that Corel's WordPerfect Office X5 works very well as well. But as I still work with Legal People Word Perfect is sort of a requirement. Not to mention that it's Head and Shoulders above M$ Office.

What in the world do you mean by that?

Can you tell: I am on the prowl in my tonight; probably your tomorrow, or whatever -- I keep little track of where you are in time. I keep only track of your every little peccadillo.

I have found that Libre Office is very good for doing this.

Actually .

I got quite a surprise when I started using it on the 7 System.

Or is the US Spooling Different?

BTW here in on the East Coast of AU it's now 14.35 or 2.35 PM on Wednesday 15 June 2011. If you look at the time that this was edited it will give you the Time Difference.

Try Another Software

by velveteen In reply to Word to pdf loses picture ...

If you want to achieve better results of pdf conversion, you should use some shareware like Nemo Word To PDF which can preserve layouts, images and hyperlinks accurately for you.

Hope it helps.
