Word won’t open,error message

I get an error message “Winword has caused an error in MS09.DLL,Winword will now close”.
I have tried to rename the files winword.exe and MS09.DLL and repair the MS offfice suite but this does not solve my problem. I tried disabling the templates in word but to no avail.
