Word XP temp files do not get deleted

By keoki ·
I am running XP and Office XP. We are in the process of migrating to Windows 2000 servers from Novell and my Personal directory has recently been moved to the Windows 2000 server. Now when I open/change/save a Word file on the server, the tempory Word file (the one that word creates while you are working on a file ~$FILE NAME) does not get deleted when I close the Word document. In some cases when I then later try to open the file, I recieve the error message that I have the document locked forediting and it will only let me open read only, create a local copy, or receive a notification when it is released.

Word XP temp files do not get deleted

This is an on going problem with Word. If it crashes, or the server is unavailable at close, or the user does not have Delete privileges, or it's Tuesday, these shards are left behind.

I followed all steps in the article by Terry Farrell, but this did not correct the problem. When I change and save a document on the server, the ~$... temporary file still remains on the server after I exit Word.
