In Word XP I open a new document and the cursor appears at the very top of the page. No header and footer space is inserted. If I print the document, the header and footer does not print?
If I open a new document, veiw header and footer, then close header and footer. the document then shows and prints as it should and the cursor appears the correct distance from the top of the page.
This happens no matter what veiw I have the document under?
Please advise
thanks
Jon

Rename/delete Normal.dot.
Also check the Word/Startup folder to see if there is a template in that location

From a new document (you have not viewed the header/footer yet): Change to Print Layout View, select Tools, Options and the View tab. In the Print and Web Layout Options section, check the box for "White space between pages (Print view only)". Close the document without saving. Header/footer space should now display in new documents.
