Wordperfect 10 – Publish to Pdf or HTML

    Locked

    by aburrus08 ·

I believe that I am having a memory leak in WordPerfect 10 on my IBM Thinkpad 390 with 128mb of memory. This happens when I try to open a WordPerfect document and then publish it to Pdf. By the 4th file that I publish to pdf, the text switches itself to italics (if you select the text, it is not actually set to italics, it just looks as if it is). After I close that file and then try to open another, the CARM report comes up. Then I have to reboot my computer. My memory resources begin at 88% and then have dropped down to the lowest of 13%. Generally they drop to about 20% with just WordPerfect 10 open! I tried to publish to HTML and it was doing OK except I could not get the documents to stay formatted and aligned. If someone can help me figure out how to publish them to HTML instead while keeping the formatting and alignments, I would be willing to go this route. I have contacted tech support and they have not helped me as of now. They were supposed to ‘get back with me’ but that definitely has NOT happened.

HTML is by nature going to display differently based on a variety of client factors such as browser, OS, display settings.

I recomend continuing to use the PDF format but not using the WP command to create it. You can create PDF’s by installinga program that will setup a PDF printer in Windows.

If you have Acrobat Writer, Print to it and send the file. You can download other shareware/freeware PDF makers from sites such as http://www.tucows.com . They work great since they install and act like a printer. When you print to them they prompt you for a file name and location to save to. These attachments are very compact and can be read with Acrobat Reader which is a free program that most people already have installed. If they dont it is available (for free) at Adobe.com

This is easy to do and I believe it will solve your problem.

      Good Luck!
