Wordy 2007 Hyperlinks

By marymccreedy ·
I have numerous documents on a network share, which I want to move to a dvd. When I move the files the hyperlinks still point to my network drive. I want to send this dvd out to someone who does not have access to my network. I opened up the code fields in word and did a search and replace; however, after saving and opening the file again, the code is back to my network drive??????? Does anyone know why this is happening. I also unchecked the updated links automatically.

Yes... you can't update a file that's already been copied to a DVD. Those are write once type of things. If you're editing the original documents on the network share, the hyperlinks still point to the network share when the documents are moved.

You might try putting all documents into one folder, updating your hyperlinks again making sure they're all dynamic (no drive letters or paths, only pointing to documents in the same folder), then saving the changes. Once that's done, copy the entire folder to the DVD.
