Workgroups in Vista Home Prem

By rar14 ·
How do I enter the workgroup name for a laptop that is connected wirelessly and not with an ethernet connection? I have Vista Home Premium. The hardware is a Linksys Wireless Router with two desktops connected to the router by ethernet cables. The desktops see each other on the worgroup called "A" while the laptop is on the wireless network called "B" and can't see the desktops.

In Vista, the default is WORKGROUP. If you want to view and edit the computer details on each PC to rename your workgroup, you can access this from the main Vista Welcome Center screen by choosing the first option View Computer Details and selecting Show More. This will bring up the Computer Name tab. Here you want to name your PC this is what it will show up as on the network and also change your workgroup name. You will need to use the same Workgroup name on each PC that you want to enable file sharing with.

Open Network and Sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, and then clicking Network and Sharing Center.
Check that network discovery is enabled along with anything else that you may need.
