I have just seen the TV commercial for the new Nokia Communicator. It seems you can phone people, read e-mail, write a Word document and use a spreadsheet on the train or in the cab on the way to and from the office!
I work from 8.30am to 5.pm, Monday to Friday. When the chips are down (no pun intended) I will work overtime to finish a job if necessary. Technology is supposed to make our working lives easier and more productive, NOT to give us the means to extend our working hours. I don’t WANT a device that, by definition, allows me to take my work with me or have my work follow me around! I don’t get paid any extra for overtime! Comments?
