Working offline message

We have offline files enabled for redirected My Documents across the network, a live LAN connection to the server and a VPN connection to a vendor for this one computer. this stupid XP machine will constantly advertise “Working Offline” yet no indication of network problems. no problems with the offline/online functionality or the cache.
Anyone else get this message? More than anything, I would like to disable it so the calls end.
