workstation to server connection

1. what is the difference bet. active directory configuration and dhcp configuration?

2. how can i connect a workstation running in win2000 prof. to a server running in a win2000 server configured a active directory and domain controller.

1) Basicly the DHCP stand for Dynamic Host Control Protocol in which thier is no need to give static IP for ur lan card. The ip for lan card will be give by DHCP server dynamically.

2) Yo can connect from 2000 Prof. To 2000 Server by the step 1 and 2 given below.

a) Chage the ip according to your Server ip like if ur server ip is 192.168.0.1 the go for 192.168.0.2 or like that by following the procedure: start >> setting >> Network Connections >> tehre will be a LAN connection right click on that teh select the properties >> assigen the ip to ur Lan Card.

2) start>>setting>>control Panel>>system in this go on networking tab then make neccesary change in domain Box Like if ur domain name is ABC then fill up the ABC is domain box after that it will give u a message welcome to domain ABC the settings will take effect after reboot. Reboot ur system and login in domain
