Workstations per WAP

By obnetadmin ·
Does anyone know of a recommended number of workstations per WAP? Or does it vary by vendor? I'm tasked with setting up about 120 workstation and the only option for connectivity to the network is wireless. Thanks.

Differing opinions...

I read in one place that the typical WAP supports 30 clients, but on a 3Com product site they said 64 clients per radio and on a dual radio device it supported 128 clients. My suggestion is to call some vendors like Cisco and 3Com, talk to some account reps and see what they say. Do you already have a budget or is it awaiting a discovery of product options? The distance maight matter more as the reliable range, especially on cheaper devices, is not great. If the users are spread out that might be your heavier consideration.
