WP Home Registry Errors in VB/VBA

I’m running XP Home Edition. Whenever I click on the References menu option in either VB or VBA I get “Error accessing the system registry.” The Help button tells me to reinstall the host program. I’ve uninstalled and re-installed Office 2000, Visual Studio 6, SQL Server 2000 Personal, and still have the problem. VB & VBA are essentially rendered useless. Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
