WPA not available as wifi choice

By semmelbroesel ·
Hi,

if I remember correctly, XP SP2 has support for WPA encoding as opposed to WEP. I have an unused freshly installed laptop with SP2 and built-in wireless-B card, and it works fine as long as I don't try to access a WPA encoded router - which is what I would like mine to be.

I looked in the Advanced Settings for Wireless Networks, and the only security type I can enter is none or WEP, and in no case do I see any way to pre-shared key which is what I would prefer.

Any idea how I can get that working?

Thanks!

Thanks, I didn't know that the wireless card has to support it - I thought it was Windows only... I can find drivers and stuff from here.
Thanks a lot!

If the above doesnt work, you can download drivers for WPA2 (it is backward compatible) from Microsoft as well.
