Write protect the MBR of hard disk drive

By Ravindra Kumar Chauhan ·
Some times due to the virus attack or some other reason, the MBR of a computers' hard drive goes corrupted or the information therein changes resulting a hard drive crash and data loss.
Will some one kindly tell me any method so that I can write protect the MBR to avoid HDD crash and resulting data loss.

Write protect the MBR of hard disk drive

There is no true Write Protect for the HD, however some BIOSs have a Virus Warning.
This may warn you about writes to Track 0.
The problem is that the BIOS can be bypassed on HD writes.
The question you have asked is one of the reasons for Tape Backup.
Since you obviously have valuable data on your system, I would suggest installing a Tape Backup unit, and using a rotating backup system, because there is no absolute defense against viruses by using software.
