Wrong Exchange Server When Starting Outlook

By patrik.broberg ·
We have recently re-installed our Exchange server and given it a new name.
Everything looks good and you can access the server and use it as you should or at least almost. When I start Outlook for any user that hasn?t already configurated the new Exchange server Outlook tries to connect to the old Exchange server.
I was told to have a look with ADSI in Configuration but can?t really figure out where to look. I have looked in CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration but I can?t find any trace of the old server in there or I just don?t know exactly what to look for.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

I suppose

this means that each of your client machines has an account configured in outlook, an account that is that is mapped to your old server, so I reckon you will have to change the settings of each client to point to the new server name
or change the name of the server to whatever the old one was

the thing is that this happens to newly created users as well.

Control Panel

Go into the control panel and open the mail icon. You can change the mail settings there to the new server.

We had a similar problem here. In addition to setting the exchange server in outlook tools we had to set the preferred DNS server for each machine to the DC with exchange. We only have 1 DC and it is the exchange server. If your DNS server for your new exchange isn't on the same DC then I'm not sure.
