    wrong hard drive size

    Locked

    by paco21 ·

A system has a 30gig harddrive but windows 98 is showing as a 3gig drive. The bios has the correct size and diagnostics show the drive is fine. Im drawing a blank on it right now.

When installing Win98 someone do not enter all the “0” (zeros) for the size of the hard drive to use.

You have get a program like Power Quest Partition Magic to check if you have full access to the 30 Gb.
You will have to resize the hard drive to the full 30GB, not the 3 GB format

Ther are sevaral different partiton tools out on the web some are free and most cost.
Some work in Windows. Some from dos boot, and some do both. Read up on each one to see which is best for you.

      Good Luck
