WSS Extranet Setup

I have WSS 3.0 Site created and it works fine on my Intranet. Now I want to open it to as an Extranet site. I run a Active Directory domain at a High School and what site visitors to enter their user login to access the site from the internet. What steps do I take? How do I handle DNS?
