XBox 360

By Neil Higgins ·
So Microsoft are going to make the XBox 360 "hacker proof".See this BBC article:

The bit that caught my eye was this:
"There are going to be levels of security in this box that the hacker community has never seen before."
If they are planning to do this with a games box,why can't they use the same coders to develop/work-on Vista.I know it's a seperate department at Redmond, but if they're going to brag this much?

The levels of security were meant to keep the
playing field for online games level. Included
in the small print for hooking up online with
the games box is the ability of the game server
to look at your machine and software to be sure
you don't have any "cheats" employed. I've
already seen this with the PS2 0nline games.

More like Punkbuster than actual security

by jmgarvin In reply to XBox 360

It ensures that online play will be more fun by kicking out the cheaters.

This is starting to happen, but the games will support a Punkbusteresk type of system to ensure there aren't any cheats employed by the user.

What they need to do is have an ages 0-13 server, 14-18 server, 19-25 server, and 25+ server. I was getting tired of being called colorful (colourful for you brits) names by high pitched, pre-pubesent kids.

Oh and XBox306 is WAY better than the PS3 ;-)
