Xerox printer banners on Solaris

By why ·
Can anyone give the magic incantation to switch off the print banner page generated by the Xerox printing software on Solaris 2.6

xpadmin (ver 3.01.23) shows "banner page disabled"

lpstat -lp shows "banner not required" for both the print and transport devices

lp -oNoBanner makes no difference

I'd like to save some trees ...

1. become root
2. cd to /usr/lib/lp/model
3. make a copy of the file 'standard': call it 'nobanner'
4. edit the nobanner file: find the line 'nobanner="no", and change it to
'nobanner="yes"'
5. assign the new interface file to your printer:

lpadmin -p your-printer-name -i /usr/lib/lp/model/nobanner

If you use NeWSprint:

Edit /etc/lp/printers//param and make sure the BANNERPS line looks like this:

BANNERPS=; export BANNERPS

The Xerox stuff uses its own setup. Its interface file twiddles a few options and then invokes another program. No obvious parameter files there.

Solution seems to be replace N2125 with Phaser 4400 - no software changes, no banner.
