XP Cant find Slave

I upgraded to XP and lost my ability to use my slaved HDD. Although any other HDD will slave. The problem must lie in the fact that my primary HDD and hoped for slave are the exact same make and model. Although I realize maybe the motherboard may need to be upgraded. All worked well in ME but not XP.
