xp client/2000 server

has anyone ever had mandatory profiles and group policy conflict. I have group policy running on a 2000 server with xp clients. All my adm
files are their and group policy works fine. In group policy i have it set to force the classic start menu but when i apply the mandatory profile (Which i set for classic also) the start menu is displayed as the new xp start menu just the personalized menu options are disabled and the desktop icons are gone and backgroung is different. Before i created the profile i did configure it. thanks
