XP Crashes Are Unusual

By BorgInva ·
Sometimes my XP Pro on PII, 260M RAM will crash. I can open most ZIP files but on a certain few, I will get the XP version of the Blue Screen of Death and it reboots. However, I can open these files on my 98 system (which is a 75MGZ on 64M RAM).
Not only ZIPs, but other executable programs will crash XP and reboot it, but they work fine on my 98 system.
So my low end system will use these EXEs and ZIPs but not my XP.
Any ideas?

DOS based programs and 16 bit applications donot work with the XP system as they would Windows 98
XP is based on 32 bit applications, but you can run dos programs in XP or find updated 32 bit file aplications

So you are saying some of the ZIP files are 16 bit and others 32?
