xp drivers

By runesas ·
i installed xp pro recently and everything was. All of my drives worked. But when I deleted my easy cd creator program, it deleted 2 xp driver files (cdralw2k and cdr4-2k). Now it can't use the drives. I tried to reinstall drives but code 39 message (driver missing or corrupt) shows. I also downloaded the xp pro start-up program to install via floppy which MS said should install drivers to boot the drives, but after starting floppy install it says to now install xp disk but the cd/dvd drives still don't work. Any suggestions???thanks

If you have access to a Windows XP startup disk, pop it in, open a command prompt, and use the System File Check utility by typing:
SFC /SCANONCE

Then restart your computer.

I had a similar problem recently and found a registry fix on Roxio's website.
