    XP HANGS AT STARTUP LOGO
When I open my computer-(Athlon AMDXP2000)-Motherboard ECSK7S5PRO-Memory 256-DDR-PC333-Optical Mouse Keyboard PSII) XP hangs at the startup logo and will not move beyond that.

There is no message or blue, black screen- just the Logo staring me in the face. Can anyone suggest anything at all, please-Thank you very much.

      Do

      1. System Restore:
      (1) in Safe Mode
      (2) in Safe Mode with Command Prompt ? If you cannot boot to Safe Mode, boot to Safe Mode with Command prompt. And you need to do Registry Editing (regedit) so you can do the System Restore. Post a comment if you need further instruction.

      2. Chkdsk: The Windows files might have been corrupted.
Boot to Recovery Console with XP CD and run ?chkdsk c:/r? without the quotes.

      3. HD Diagnosis: The HD might have developed bad sectors. If the repair cannot be done, install a new HD and install Windows in it. Connect the current HD if you need to access files.

      4. Reinstall Windows: After the Steps 1 and 2, and if the HD passes the diagnostic test, reinstall Windows on top of the current one.

If you need further help or information, please post a comment.
