When I open my computer-(Athlon AMDXP2000)-Motherboard ECSK7S5PRO-Memory 256-DDR-PC333-Optical Mouse Keyboard PSII) XP hangs at the startup logo and will not move beyond that. There is no message or blue, black screen- just the Logo staring me in the face. Can anyone suggest anything at all, please-Thank you very much.

Can you boot into Safe Mode?
As soon as the XP logo screen comes up, press F8 key, choose Safe Mode, then let it try and come up in Safe Mode. You then can log in, and check the Event Viewer logs for details.

Try Last Known Good to boot up with the same registry settings as the last time you booted into Windows. F8 to get to Advanced Boot Menu, then choose LKG.

If Loast Known Good configuration doesn't help then the best option would be to repair Windows XP from the Recovery Console.

The following website should help you find instructions on Repairing Windows XP in RC:

Once into Recovery Console run CHKDSK /R

This should help.
