XP Home edition and Domain

By d.fair ·
I am running a domain under Server2003 and am wondering if anyone knows of a client I can run to log XP Home boxes into the domain. I have an old client to to this with Win 9x boxes but have now seen anything for XP Home.

Thanks for any help

You can not join XP home to a Domain it is one of the differences between XP Home & Pro.

The best that you can hope to do is add a Home OS to a Work-group not a Domain. If you really need to add this machine to a domain you'll have to upgrade it to XP Pro.

This can be accomplished with the free and widely available Xteq X-Setup 6.1 by navigating to the "Network \ Auto Login \ Windows NT/2K/XP \ Settings" option within X-Setup. Simply enter the appropriate information and click "Apply Changes" - upon your next reboot, you can then join domains with WinXP Home Edition. Problem solved. X-Setup includes many other useful Windows XP tweaks / hacks / etc. for Windows XP as well, all free for personal use.
