XP home Website Issue

By mcoya ·
For some reason i cannot access some website on my XP home pc. Does anybody know of any good troubleshooting techniques for website issues. I know the websited exist, and it's not a DNS issue. The websites are timing out before i get them.

Try getting to them with another browser, for example, netscape. If the page does come up, then you know it's an IE problem (I assume that's what you're using). If answer # 1 does not work, check the security settings, also make sure cookies are allowed. As a last resort, use another browser.

I'm assuming you aren't having problems accessing most other websites.

Try pinging the website and see what results you get. If you see extremely high numbers (higher than 200-300ms), then there is an issue with either the link between you and the website, or the server hosting the website is experiencing performance issues. If the result is "request timed out", the problem is more severe, but it's probably not anythin on your end unless you have problems with ALL websites.
