XP Installation Interruption

When I try to install Windows XP Professional on top of my Win2K Professional I get a blue screen of death with the notice that to continue will damage hardware and this hex error message:
0x0000007B(0xF9E8563C,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000).
This happens during the “Copying Windows files” portion of the setup. Compatibility check is fine.
Should I just reformat the disk and start from scratch?

That error is “Inaccessible Boot device”, and to get around it, you’ll need to boot from startup disks. Take a look at this Knowledge Base article for assistance.

The error 0x0000007 Inaccessible Boot Device

The cause could be the computer is infected with a boot sector virus

Check the system for virus,then determine if you will need to reformat the drive
