I have a Asus motherboard, Pentium 4, 2.4 GHz PC. Win XP was running on it. I had kaspersky antivirus (licence date expired) Suddenly an unknown problem occured, my Windows was not working. I could not formate it beacuse I had important file in that. I brought a new Hard disk. With that I tried to install XP but failed. With bootable disk, I did Fdisk and format the new hard drive. But while tried to install WinXP from bootable CD, some files failed to copy. Even with new CD and new DVD rom drive some files could not installed (every time different file failed to copy). However, I could install win98. After that when I tried to install (even from Hard drive), a message came and it shut down the installation preocess. (it said that to prevent damage opf your Hard drive the installation process stopped). Even in win98 I found some proble in internet using and installation so some software.. Even I am facing problem in copying WinXP installation file from one pard of hard drive to other. Then I formatted the Old hard drive and tried to install WinXP. IT also gave same problem. I tried both FAT and NTFS file format system. I tried to install AVG. I installed it but when tried to update it from internet, it the mid of update process a message came ” Explorer has performed an illigal operation”……….and stopped (in Win98)……………
I tried to update it from win98……..and also tried to fresh install (both from CD ahd hard drive different partition or Slave hard drive). Even it creating problem in copying file in different part of the same hard disk.
BIOS is American Megatrends)……………I do not understant much about PC.
Now, what should I do to install winXP?
