XP keeps losing password

By pchlp ·
I have a PC with XP Pro and it keeps losing the password. I assigned no password on login and it works for a few times and then comes up and ask for a password. Any password I have ever used in this PC does not work.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Is this computer connected to a network? Have you gone into User Administration and checked the password settings for the user?

you say it keeps losing the password..

Then you say any password you have used will not work.. So I would assume then that you are logging on a someone else then setting the password to blank?

I would say that something is setting the password to expire after so many times, or it needs to verify the password

Have you gone into users and chosen to remove password?

More info please.

Good Luck

I had 2 profiles plus the administor profile.
I deleted one profile and set the other one to with no password. It would not let me delete the profile.
I then booted up, and had a log in screen.
I tried no password on both and my original password. Not able to login.
I then did Ctrl Alt Delete twice and received a login screen.
I typed in Adminsitrator and the 1 st password and it lets me login.
All I think of is there is some kind of permission set up not to allow any changes.
I went through gpedit.msc and everything is disabled
Beats me. I think I may format and reinstall.
