XP logon problem with NT 4 domain

When logging on to an NT 4 domain, XP sometimes comes up with “Domain not found or username or password not recognized” message. I usually have to login to the local machine and delete that users local profile, but it does it with roaming profiles to. I looked on Microsofts site for a fix but couldn’t find one. I have 52 machines doing this now. Please help!
