XP logon to Server 2000

By dcjames1 ·
How do I get XP PC to logon automatically to 2000 server after user logs onto to XP. XP logon is the same as Server logon.

Hi,
It depends what you mean by log on. If you want to map a drive you can use the net use command. type

net help use

at the command prompt for usage details. Otherwise, can you explain a bit more clearly what it is you want to do?

When a 2000 Pro or other Windows PC logs on they are asked to enter user id and password. This logs them on to their PC and LAN. XP asks for an extra logon to get to the LAN.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but you may need to join the WinXP computer to the domain. Right-click "My Computer" and select properties. Select the Computer Name tab. Click the Network ID button and follow the wizard. You will now have the choice to log on to the local computer only or the domain.

Are you using XP Home? If not, have you joined this machine to the domain?
