XP loses network connections

On several networks, I have PCs running XP that lose network connections. At first I thought this was related to sleep mode/hibernate and other power management settings. I turned all power management off. This worked on some PCs, not on others (same type of machines???). Tried net config server /autodisconnect:-1. That also does not fix it. Any suggestions?
