XP Magic Superbloat???

I recently completed an xp build. Then I downloaded and installed SP2 (I use dialup.Whew!). My disk is a paultry 6Gb and I don’t have much on there yet. So why has 5Gb been used? I know this seems like a general question but maybe someone has an idea.
