xp not accessible

i have an p4(1.6),512mb ddram,40 gb hdd..recently i bought a printer (lexmark) and this 512 ram(before i had 128 sd ram) xp seems to be facin a serious error(it says some page fault error) and my system keeps on restarting again and again..awaitin suggestions

The error may be caused by the memory,which is causing the system to reboot.First check the motherboard manufacturer to see if it supports ddr ram,also if you have pdated bios
Try putting the ram in correct slot to configure to ddr spec.

Quick check - go back to the old ram, if it works fine for a week then you have a compatibility/bad stick problem.

Comment from on 10/29/04:
check the capacitors next to the CPU.
If the capacitors are flat on top they are good.
If they are raised they are bad.
Having just one bad capacitor will cause this problem.
You will have to replace the motherboard
