XP not fully loading

By squashedfrog ·
Hiya, hoping someone can help with a problem we're having on our main computer.

My other half was transferring some pictures from the camera to the pc, when after a short time the cursor disappeared and he couldn't do anything. Thinking they were doing the right thing, they shut it off at the wall. Now when we switch it on it goes to the Windows loading screen with the three blue squares that show the status, but after a while they just stop and goes no further.

I've tried going into all the safe modes but it stops on the same file each time - agpCPQ.sys I think it was. Tried loading last working config, and it just hangs, tried pretty much everything but can't get past the loading screen.

We don't have an XP CD to try as the machine was a preload which I hate, and can't find a way to access the hard drive to delete the photos to see if that helps.

I think that as the photos were around MB each and there were 648 of them, that the RAM or something is overloaded, so it just hasn't got the room to finish loading, but not sure how to fix this. Any ideas?
