I’m running the latest Windows XP and a HP Laserjet 3600 networked printer. I have a TCP/IP port set up for the printer and I print over the network using the latest printer driver. However, it takes ages to print – when I press print say in Notepad it can take up to five minutes. When I go to printer properties, it takes about 3 minutes for the properties window to come up. It doesn’t seem to be the printer itself, as other computers in the office can print to it fine. Also, I can print to other printers no problem. It’s just this combination of my computer and this printer. I’ve tried deleting the TCP/IP port and also reinstalling the latest (and only) driver available on the HP website. Still, anything to do with this printer hangs for ages. I’ve also tried pinging the printer (<1 ms) and traceroute tells me it's a direct connection. Any ideas? Anyone? 🙂 Thanks in advance.
