XP pro crashes

by angelsix . Updated 21 years, 8 months ago

I’m having crashes & problems w/ XP (Pro). Problems include:
~System Error “Error code 0000004e, parameter1 0000008f, parameter2 0001ea8b, parameter3 0005265b, parameter4 00000000.”
~System Error “Error code 10000050, parameter1 95f46016, parameter2 00000001, parameter3 f4601654, parameter4 00000000.”
~DCOM “The server {9F92FFA3-40D1-475A-9323-A39C705DAB86} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.”
~Service Control Error “The Symantec Network Proxy service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).”
Those show up in my System Log (through Event Viewer). Also gotten:
~PAGEFAULT IN NONPAGED AREA STOP: 0x00000050 (…)
~AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO WRITE TO READ ONLY MEMORY. STOP:0x000000BE (…)
NTFS.SYS – ADDRESS F8321BCE base at F8236000 DATESTAMP 3d6d35c1
Also, sometimes it will just re-set, with no entry in the event log and no screen error, even though I have turned off XP’s auto-reset.
Problems seem related to heavy drive use, especially w/ Ghost or BackupMyPc although some maximum drive use tests caused no problems. Cannot do a full C drive backup (using Backup MyPc by Stomp) w/out crash.
My system: Re-built — fan died CPU fried. Motherboard: New Abit KV7 (replacing KD7 having similar problems so assumed the KD7 was the problem); AthlonXP 2600; 512mb PC3200 RAM (mfg. RAMB; tested w/ MemTest386); C drive 230 gb & D drive 200 gb (hard drives: no partitions, NTFS dynamic, IDE, each w/ slave optical (CDRW & DVDROM); ran chkdsk & Norton’s Disk Check, no problems reported)); new 400w power supply.
