XP Pro Not Displaying Networked Drives

By IREChe ·
Several XP machines all on an NT Domain. There is a generic batch script setup for all the users when they login which connects them to the commonly used network drives.

Problem: The script runs on login and the drives are connected fine. When you go to view the networked drives in My Computer they don't appear. However if you open an application such as MS Word and open a file from there, you can browse through the connected networked drives.

Question: Why are the drives not being displayed in My Computer and how do we make sure that these drives are displayed everytime the user logs on.

Systems are Dell Optiplexes with XP Pro SP2.

Does this happen with all the computers? Are the computers that are having the problem up to date with all their Windows updates?

This happens on most computers on the network. Some days they will connect and display the drives fine. The following day they wont. If I disconnect all mapped network drives from the tool menu and log on again, it will connect and display the drives perfectly.
